Douchey Hat

Backstory

Patryk had just gotten back from WWDC and was describing his experience of the event specifically and San Franciso in general. He observed that, tragically, there were homeless people everywhere he looked, and they all had two things in common: they all seemed to be carrying an iPhone, and they all wore douchey hats.

Some wisehat asked how Patryk was able to distinguish these homeless people from your run-of-the-mill hipster, to which Patryk had no reply.

Fun fact: I mailed a photocopy of this comic to the mobile team in XING Hamburg (envelope and postage courtesy of XING), and they charitably hung it in their office space and left it there for many years. Maybe it’s still around somewhere. Who knows.

Artist’s Notes

The protagonist is wearing his turtle neck again. These are only worn by homeless people and hipsters nowadays anyway, so this kind of works.

I don’t know what kind of hat it was trying to draw, but I doubt it was an Empire-era pith helmet.

Note the use of lowercase letters for “iPhone”. I guess I thought “IPHONE” would have looked too weird and a violation of brand. The barred “0” was an odd choice in retrospect.
